What is the cancellation and refund policy?

We have received feedback from both hosts and guests in the Peerspace community regarding the best way to handle cancellations. When a guest cancels a booking, it is usually at a burden to the host who has blocked off their space's availability, thus preventing others from booking it. As the date draws closer to the start of the booking, the host's ability to rebook that space becomes increasingly difficult if there is a cancellation. At the same time, sometimes plans change for our guests and they may need to cancel a confirmed booking.

We have developed the Peerspace cancellation policy so that it provides some flexibility for guests while still providing security for a host who has reserved their space for the guest.

A guest may cancel any booking within 48 hours of the booking's confirmation by the host without further obligation as long as that cancellation is also made more than 7 days in advance of the booking start time. If a booking is made in this short-notice timeframe, or the cancellation is made more than 48 hours after it has been confirmed by the host, then the following cancellation and refund rules apply to guests. Likewise, the host will be entitled to a portion of their payout depending on when the cancellation occurs. In all cancellations, Peerspace retains our customary fees. All of this is outlined in the table as follows:

Refunds to guests will only apply when a cancellation has been made. Please pay careful attention to the cancellation policy before completing a booking request so you are aware of the refunds eligible in the event of a cancellation. 

Cleaning fees are always refunded if a guest cancels a booking and does not use the space.

Refunds to guests and payouts to hosts will be processed within 7 days of the date that the original booking was to take place. If Peerspace is able to rebook a host's space on the calendar date of the original cancellation, the new booking will replace the cancelled one and the scheduled host payout from the cancelled booking will be voided.
