To ensure your space is ready for you on the day of your event and remains in great condition for future guests, hosts often charge a cleaning fee. This fee helps cover the cost of maintaining the space and ensures basic cleaning tasks, like trash removal, are taken care of upfront—so you don’t have to worry about it during your event.
The cleaning fee is intended to cover standard maintenance, such as trash removal and light cleaning. It does not cover excessive wear and tear or deep cleaning. We ask that all guests treat the space with respect and care, as if it were their own. As a Peerspace guest, you're responsible for covering the cost of any damages caused during your booking.
Cleaning Fee Commonly Asked Questions:
What does the cleaning fee cover?
The cleaning fee helps cover the cost of garbage removal, providing a handwashing or hand sanitizer station, and basic cleaning, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and washing dishes.

What does the cleaning fee not cover?
The cleaning fee your host charges covers general upkeep, but there are some tasks that are your responsibility as a guest. These include:
- Setup and takedown: You’ll need to factor this into your booking time.
- Furniture and decor: Please return any rearranged items to their original places.
- Borrowed amenities: Be sure to return any borrowed items to their original locations.
- Dishes: Place used dishes in the sink or dishwasher and tidy up before leaving.
- Excess garbage: Removal of large amounts of trash that would incur hauling costs is not covered.
- Repairs and damages: You are responsible for any major damage to the space (e.g., scuff marks, stains on or damage to furniture or carpets, etc.).
Can I opt out of my host’s cleaning fee?
No, if a host lists a cleaning fee in their listing, it is considered a fixed cost that will be collected upfront with the booking. Keep in mind, the cost may vary between listings if the activity involves a higher impact on the space. Reference each listing’s “Pricing” section in order to better understand your host’s expectations prior to making payment.
Are cleaning fees subject to the Peerspace processing fee?
Yes, the cleaning fee is included in the subtotal of the booking. The Peerspace processing fee applies to all transactions.
Is the cleaning fee refundable if I cancel my booking?
Cleaning fees are always refunded if a guest cancels a booking and does not use the space. Refunds of the booking portion for a cancellation are processed differently, according to our cancellation policy.
