In order to ensure your space is prepared for you on the day of your event, as well as for future guests, it is common for your host to charge a cleaning fee. This additional cost goes directly towards maintaining the cleanliness of the space. By paying the cleaning fee upfront, you don’t have to worry about being responsible for basic upkeep and removal of trash.
This fee is intended to cover costs associated with trash removal and maintenance of the space. It is not intended to cover excessive wear and tear or deep cleaning. Guests are expected to treat the space they book as if it were their own, with respect and care. As a Peerspace guest, you agree to pay costs for any damages that you or your attendees cause during a confirmed booking.
Cleaning Fee Commonly Asked Questions:
What does the cleaning fee cover?
Your cleaning fee will pay for removal of garbage, a hand washing or hand sanitizer station, and basic cleaning of the space, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and washing dishes.
For more information on updates to our cleaning standards due to COVID-19, read here.
What does the cleaning fee not cover?
The cleaning fee your host charges does not cover your obligations for setup and takedown, which must be factored into your booking time. As a guest, you are responsible for:
- Returning any rearranged furniture or decor to its original place
- Returning borrowed amenities to where they were found in the space, placing used dishes in sink or dishwasher and general tidying up of the space prior to departure
- Removal of excess garbage that would result in hauling expenses
- Major repairs and damages (Ex. scuff marks, furniture, carpet or floor stains, etc)
Can I opt out of my host’s cleaning fee?
No, if a host lists a cleaning fee in their listing, it is considered a fixed cost that will be collected upfront with the booking. Keep in mind, the cost may vary between listings if the activity involves a higher impact on the space. Reference each listing’s “Pricing” section in order to better understand your host’s expectations prior to making payment.
Are cleaning fees subject to the Peerspace processing fee?
Yes, the cleaning fee is included in the subtotal of the booking. The Peerspace processing fee applies to all transactions.
Is the cleaning fee refundable if I cancel my booking?
Cleaning fees are always refunded if a guest cancels a booking and does not use the space. Refunds of the booking portion for a cancellation are processed differently, according to our cancellation policy.
