When a host requests an additional payment for a booking (for example, extra time, added attendees, or extra add-ons), that request moves through a few simple statuses so both the host and the guest always know where things stand. You'll see the current status as a small label (a "pill") in your inbox and on the booking details, on both the app and the web.
This FAQ explains what each status means and what, if anything, you need to do.
The statuses at a glance
There are two labels you might see, and which one you see depends on whether you're the host or the guest:
Awaiting response — what the host sees while that same request is waiting on the guest.
In review — what both the host and guest see once a charge has been disputed, or the guest didn't respond in time, and Peerspace is looking into it.
Once a request is fully paid or otherwise closed out, the status disappears and the request is no longer shown.
"Awaiting response"
What it means: You've submitted your payment request and it's been sent to the guest. This status means the guest hasn't acted on it yet. The label will show the amount you requested along with how long the guest has to respond.
What you can do:
Wait for the guest to respond. The guest has 48 hours to pay or dispute.
Withdraw and resubmit if you need to. If you need to change something, you can withdraw the request before the guest's response window closes and submit a new one. There's only ever one live request at a time.
"In review"
What it means: The request has moved to Peerspace for review. Both the host and the guest will see this status. A request goes into review for a few situations:
The guest disputed a charge. If the guest disputes at least one charge in the request, the whole request is locked and our team steps in to review it.
The guest didn't respond in time. If the 48-hour window passes without the guest paying or disputing, the request also moves into review.
The payment didn’t go through. A guest tried to pay for the additional charges but the credit card payment failed and wasn’t replaced.
