How do I charge overtime?

When a guest extends their stay, you have the option to charge for the extra time. Here's everything you need to know about submitting overtime—whether your booking has a standard rate or a custom invite-to-book rate.

Updated this week

Before you begin

It is your choice whether to offer overtime to a guest. If you decide to, let them know when their time is almost up and confirm the rate with them upfront to avoid any miscommunication.

Note: All overtime must be reported within 72 hours after the booking end time. Peerspace cannot pursue charges past this time.

📬 Look for the completion email. After each booking ends, you'll receive an email with the subject line "Your booking with [Guest name] is complete." All overtime charges are submitted from that email. Use the buttons inside it to get started.

Which type of booking did you have?

The process differs slightly depending on whether your booking was at a standard rate or a custom invite-to-book rate. Identify your booking type below, then follow the corresponding steps.

Standard rate bookings

For standard and variable-rate bookings, use the "Add Overtime" button in your completion email. You'll enter the hours (in 30-minute increments) and choose your rate.

1 Open your completion email

Find the email titled "Your booking with [Guest name] is complete" and clickAdd Overtime.

2 Enter the overtime duration

Input the number of extra hours in 30-minute increments (e.g., 0.5, 1, 1.5 hours).

3 Choose your overtime rate

Select either the standard rate (1×) or the premium rate (1.5×) based on what you and your guest agreed to.

4 Submit the charge

Once submitted, your guest's card on file will be charged immediately. They have 48 hours to dispute the charge with Peerspace.

Custom rate (invite-to-book) bookings

If your booking was confirmed through the invite-to-book feature, the "Add Overtime" button won't reflect your custom price. Instead, use "Add Other Charges" to submit overtime at your agreed custom hourly rate.

1 Open your completion email

Find the email titled "Your booking with [Guest name] is complete" and click Add Other Charges.

2 Specify the overtime duration

Enter the number of overtime hours in 30-minute increments.

3 Select your custom rate

Choose either the regular custom hourly rate or 1.5× that rate, based on what you agreed with your guest.

4 Submit for guest confirmation

Unlike standard overtime, this charge is sent to your guest for confirmation. They'll be charged after their48-hour review window.

Payout & timing

Payouts for overtime are automatically deposited into the bank account you have on file. Depending on when you submit the overtime charge, the payment may arrive in a separate payout from your original booking payout.

⚠️ Don't miss the window. All overtime must be reported within 72 hours of the booking end time. Peerspace cannot pursue charges submitted after this deadline.

Frequently asked questions

What if my guest disputes the overtime charge?

For standard bookings, guests have 48 hours to dispute an overtime charge. If a dispute is submitted, Peerspace will contact you directly to review the situation before a final decision is made.

Can I charge overtime in 15-minute increments?

No—overtime is submitted in 30-minute increments only (e.g., 0.5 hr, 1 hr, 1.5 hrs).

What if the booking had both a variable rate and a custom invite-to-book price?

If the booking was confirmed at a variable or attendee-based rate, the "Add Overtime" button will reflect that adjusted rate. However, if it was an invite-to-book at a custom price, always use "Add Other Charges" to ensure the correct custom rate is applied.

Can I charge for other extras at the same time?

Yes. Use the "Add Other Charges" button in your completion email to submit additional cleaning fees, rule violation charges, or other add-ons separately from overtime.
